Pampered Chef - One Year In

I wanted to capture my thoughts after being an independent consultant for Pampered Chef for over a year and a half now.  I started on January 20, 2024 and have enjoyed my time with my side hustle for the past year.  I started off strong having my own launch party where several family members and friends bought products for their homes and helped me out as a new consultant.  I had two friends book a party from this launch party and another booking from a friend’s party.  But after the first two months, I haven’t had any other parties other than the fundraiser I did in August to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana. I’ve had one off orders which have helped me remain eligible to sell Pampered Chef products and keep my discount which I take full advantage of.

Because of starting out strong, I earned several free products that new consultants are eligible for when they hit certain sales amounts.  This was so fun and exciting as someone new to this type of work!  My biggest ticket item I earned was the Deluxe Multi Cooker.  I also earned the stainless steel nonstick skillet that I already had, but I was very happy to have a 2nd one which I use all the time.  I also earned some of the monthly products that consultants can earn for various amounts of sales.  I earned some of the summer products which was really fun.

My launch party goodies and some free products I earned!

Pampered Chef has several free training workshops that are offered online at least monthly.  I took every class that I could at the beginning of starting my business.  These workshops gave practical tips and encouragement.

I also attended the annual conference virtually last summer (and have plans to attend virtually again this year).  I really enjoyed listening to the seminars, workshops, and product previews.  It got me really excited for the fall product lineup.  Pampered Chef also shared some of the improvements that they made to the consultant’s tools which impressed me with how many resources they offer to consultants.  The workshops they offered had more information that the regular training sessions offered online so the value of the conference was worth it.  And I got a few fall products for being in “attendance” which was another reason to join.  Lastly, I have always been reinvigorated by being around others who share my profession, and this was the same experience for this conference too.

All the free products I’ve earned from new consultant sales and monthly sales goals!

Other than the free and discounted products, there are two things that I have enjoyed that were not expected.  I have found that I really enjoy providing great customer service by showing customers the variety of options they have when they come with a specific item they need.  I like investigating our catalog and reading about each product’s specifications to meet the needs of whatever the customer is looking for.  I also enjoy sharing tricks, tips, and recipes to make people’s cooking lives a little easier.

The other unexpected pleasure is creating posts for social media.  I just like sharing what I’m cooking, eating, baking, and using in the kitchen.  Most of my posts are only seen by single digit numbers, but I’ve decided that it’s more of a creative outlet for me rather than being a sales booster or even an emotional booster.

So overall I have had a great experience being an independent consultant for Pampered Chef.  It’s given me discounted products, but more importantly given me a fun hobby that has really filled my time with something I enjoy.  Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience - I’m happy to share!
